SAT/ACT
Getting good at standardized testing is like acquiring any skill; it requires commitment, practice, and a good coach. Students are understandably intimidated by these tests. They’ve heard about them for years, but they likely don’t know how formulaic they actually are. My goal is to familiarize students with every aspect of the test so that with time they can develop a feeling of mastery. When the test day finally arrives, they enter the test room with the confidence that comes from knowing there won’t be any surprises.
I have five years of experience teaching the SAT and ACT and have seen significant score increases in all of my students. We begin with a diagnostic test to assess areas of weakness and then pursue a tailored curriculum that balances content review with test-taking practice.
ISEE/SSAT/SHSAT
The SSAT and ISEE can often be a student's first exposure to standardized testing. I help students feel comfortable with this new form, so that they can effectively deploy their skills and intelligence. This way students can feel they have the strongest profile possible for secondary school admissions.
